So You Want a Signed E-book…

18 Jan

You may be in luck! Thanks to my in-the-know writer friend, Suzanne Lilly (who coincidentally blogs as TeacherWriter) I found out about Kindlegraph.

Kindlegraph “lets authors send personalized inscriptions and signatures (‘kindlegraphs’) directly to the electronic reading devices of their fans.” A smart fellow by the name of Evan Jacobs came up with the idea, and it’s an application that’s growing every day. There are other applications out there, too. Autography is a service that allows ebook signing as well as photographs with authors.

Ebook signings will never take the place of that moment when you (or Cathy-on-a-Stick) gets to meet a real live author, gush about his or her book, and mug for a photo. But it can provide one more way to connect with readers. And I think that may be a good thing.

If you go to Kindlegraph and type my name in, you’ll see what book comes up that I can e-sign. I have a funny feeling you might know it, Linda. ;-)

Hey, thanks for the mention! I didn’t know about Autography. I like the idea of a photo with the signature. Speaking of photos, I’ve never heard the story of how you came up with Cathy on a Stick. But every time a see a pic of your face on a stick somewhere, it brings a smile to my face!

Aw, thanks, Suzanne! The story of Cathy-on-a-Stick…hmmm. I shall put that on my To Do Blog Posts About list. ;-)

Hey, you have “Cleopatra’s Moon” showing. :) I’m ready Tanya’s copy and need to get it back to her. Terrific book. I’m not picky about a book being signed. I’m just happy to have one in my hot little hands.

Loved that book, too, Lisa! I don’t have to have every book signed, but when YOUR book comes out, I better get a paragraph! ;-)

I thought the day of author’s signing their books would be long gone with the onslaught of e-books, so this is kind of cool. I still want a “real”, paper book and if I’m getting a signature, I’m like you, Cathy! I want to SEE the person and TALK, etc. But those days are slowly (or quickly) fading away….*sniff*…
